Dr. Silvio Vita

Silvio Vita is Associate Professor of East Asian Religions and Philosophy, and Director of the Italian School of East Asian Studies in Kyoto. Prior to this he was Associate Professor at the Istituto Universitario Orientale in Naples, in his home country of Italy, where he was born in Rome. He received his "Laurea" (university degree) in Classical Literature from the Istituto in Naples in 1978, and then proceeded to Princeton University, where he received his M.A. in East Asian Religions in 1986. He has contributed numerous articles to academic journals in Italy and elsewhere, has translated and edited other works, and has also written entries on such subjects as pagodas, stelae and Shintoism for encyclopaedias published by the Istituto dell' Enciclopedia Italiana.
