Mr. André Yuki Kawada

Mr. Kawada, who was given his baptismal name at birth by a French Catholic priest, received his schooling at Gakushuin. While at high school he was a dormitory mate of Prince Yoshi (now Prince Hitachi), and at university he was one of the first students of ASJ Vice-President Prof. Hugh Wilkinson. After graduation in 1959 he joined the Mitsubishi Corporation, and between 1961 and 1968 was the company's representative, first in Manila and then in Singapore and Malaysia. From 1969 to 1975 he was seconded to Mitsubishi International Corporation in New York. His final position in Mitsubishi Corporation was as assistant general manager in the Information Industry Division, pioneering the visual software business and going on frequent roving missions around the European markets. In 1993 he resigned from Mitsubishi and joined the Kanda Gaigo University Group as Director General of the British Hills Unit. He is now Honorary Director General of British Hills Co. Ltd., the cultural centre in the highlands of Fukushima-ken, whose 8th convention and seminar in May was attended by the British Ambassador and Lady Fry. He is concurrently a lecturer in Anglo-Japanese Historical and Cultural Relations at Gakushuin Women's College.
