Professor Takeo Iguchi

Prof. Iguchi was born in Shanghai in 1930, and was in Washington, D.C., in December 1941, where his father was Counsellor at the Japanese embassy, serving under Ambassador Nomura, so he had boyhood memories of those historic days. He graduated from Tokyo University, and joined the Foreign Ministry in 1953. He then studied at St. John's College, Oxford, and received his M.A. in 1956. He served in the Philippines, in France, and at the United Nations, and was Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Bangladesh and New Zealand. While attached to the embassy in Washington, he was a visiting professor at the University of Virginia Law School, and later a visiting professor at International Christian University until 2001.
