In Memoriam
Robert Garrett Flershem

It is with great regret that we have to record the death of Mr. Robert Garrett Flershem, who had been a member of the Society for over thirty years. He passed away on November 23rd, 2005, at the age of 92. With the help of his wife Yoshiko, he delivered a number of papers to the Society on the history of the Kanazawa area, where they were living. The first was on "Kaga and the Restoration", read in May, 1978; this was followed by others subsequently published in Vols. 3 (1988), 7 (1992) and 10 (1995) of Series IV of the Transactions.
